Comova Social Trips

Not your typical bike tour.

We take all the knowledge and lessons learned from from planning custom private trips and put them into a very limited number of “Comova Social Trips.”

We call these social trips because a huge part of the experience is meeting new people and making new friends with other cyclists who share your passion for adventure and exploration by bicycle.

But these are nothing like the bike tours you’ve seen before.

Comova Cycling adventures are remote, rugged, and peacefully all-inclusive- the perfect soul-healing recipe.

Mini Pacific Coast Tour

Dates: June 2-6, 2024

Meet: Comova (Cazadero, CA)

Shuttle to ride start: Miranda, CA

Ride finish: Comova (Cazadero, CA)

Price: starting at $1,775 pp

We’ll meet at Comova’s headquarters on Day 1 for a shuttle to the Miranda. Our afternoon spin will take us along the ancient redwoods of Avenue of the Giants and along two forks of the Eel River.

The next day is the crux of the trip. It starts with a short shuttle to Ferndale and then a challenging climb to get to the only segment of paved road along California’s Lost Coast. After 7 miles of spectacular coastline, we turn inland through the tiny hamlets of Petrolia and Honeydew
before climbing over Panther Gap and descending to the redwood giants along Bull Creek Flat.

After another overnight in Miranda, we’ll head back across the coast range to Fort Bragg. More coastline riding through Mendocino County the next day places us in Point Arena. The next day, on a route we call “Edge of the Continent,” the Pacific’s constant presence can’t help but make you feel like you are perched on the edge of the continent. On the final day, from Fort Ross back to Comova, you’ll wind in and out of coves and up and down along bluffs while struggling to wrap your head around the beauty and scale of it all. We’ll finish at Comova for a celebration on the Bike Barn’s deck.

Gifford Pinchot Gravel Gala

Dates: July 6/7-12, 2023

Place: Trout Lake, WA

Price: starting at $1,950 pp

To call the Gifford Pinchot National Forest vast is an understatement. Its 1.32 million acres of old and second-growth forest include 8 designated Wilderness areas, 7 major river systems, 21 major lakes, and 2 volcanoes (St. Helens and Adams). In short, it’s a gravel riding paradise.

This trip focuses on the southern section, nestled between Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams and just north of the Columbia River Gorge, where you’ll encounter few cars along the gravel forest roads. But you’ll also find very little flat riding. The routes are challenging but rewarding.

Riders will enjoy accommodations at the spacious Riverfront Lodge along the White Salmon River in Trout Lake. From gradual climbs on wide forest roads to abandoned roads taken over by nature, the routes meander through lush forests dominated by Douglas fir and dotted with Western hemlock and Western red cedars with breakout views of Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams.

Lost Coast to
Sonoma Coast Tour

Dates: Aug 1-5, 2023

Place: Lost Coast and Highway 1

Price: starting at $1,275 pp

We’ll meet at Comova’s headquarters on Day 1 for a shuttle to Ferndale where there’s an option for a late afternoon spin. Day 2 offers up a shakeout ride along the Eel River then up and over Bear River Ridge and down Mattole Rd. for a sneak peak at what you’ll be climbing to start the next day.

Day 3 is the crux of the trip. It starts with a challenging climb to get to the only segment of paved road along California’s Lost Coast. Try to absorb the spectacular coastline because there are just 7 miles of it before turning inland. Next we’ll pass through the tiny hamlets of Petrolia and Honeydew
before climbing over Panther Gap and descending to the redwood giants along Bull Creek Flat. Even more old growth redwoods await as the final 15 miles to our overnight in Miranda take us along Avenue of the Giants.

Day 4 takes us back across the coast range and sets up a final day of riding (Day 5) on a route we call “Edge of the Continent.” For 100 miles the Pacific’s constant presence can’t help but make you feel like you are perched on the edge of the continent. All day long your gaze will be drawn to the Pacific’s alluring shades of blue and to hawks swirling in the thermals as you try to wrap your head around the beauty and scale of it all. We’ll finish at Comova for a celebration on the Bike Barn’s deck.

"Steve had done a fantastic job curating a route that did justice to our skill levels.

Even though we had varied skill sets in our group, every single one of us felt challenged and fulfilled over the course of the 3 days!
Beyond the route planning, Steve was extremely helpful in preparing us for the rides. Checking in constantly, ensuring our gear was up to the mark, giving us pointers on post-ride recovery - these tips went a really long way towards an enjoyable trip”
